Introducing Monitor Assistant — Your AI Monitoring Co-pilot

February 14, 20263 min read

Monitor Assistant is a built-in AI co-pilot that helps you set up monitors correctly, diagnose incidents faster, and understand what your monitoring data is telling you — all in plain language.

Setting up monitoring correctly isn't always straightforward. Choosing the right check interval, understanding why a monitor is flapping, or knowing what a spike in response time actually means — these are questions that come up constantly. Monitor Assistant is our answer: a built-in AI co-pilot available directly inside the app.

You'll find Monitor Assistant in the bottom-right corner of the dashboard and on individual monitor detail pages. Ask it anything about your monitoring setup in plain language — it has full context of your monitors, recent incidents, and response time history, so its answers are specific to your infrastructure rather than generic documentation.

During setup, Monitor Assistant can suggest the right check interval for your use case, recommend which notification channels to enable based on the criticality of the host, and flag common configuration mistakes before you save. If you're not sure whether to use a ping check or a port check for a particular service, just ask.

During an incident, it surfaces the most relevant information immediately: when the monitor first went down, the last known-good response time, whether related monitors in the same group are also affected, and whether a parent monitor dependency might explain the outage. It can also draft an incident summary you can paste directly into a status page update or a Slack message.

After an incident, Monitor Assistant analyses the response time history and incident log to highlight patterns — recurring outages at specific times of day, gradual response time degradation before a failure, or monitors that are consistently close to your alerting threshold. These insights help you move from reactive to proactive monitoring.

Monitor Assistant is available on Pro and Enterprise plans. It uses your team's monitoring data only — no data is used to train external models, and conversations are not stored beyond the current session. You can enable or disable it at any time from My Team → Settings.
